Our Mission

FAVOR's mission is to help improve mental health services for children with serious emotional disorders throughout Connecticut by increasing the availability, accessibility, cultural competence and quality of mental health services for children through Family Advocacy. 

FAVOR's primary purpose is to foster the strengthening and expansion of the children's mental health family movement in Connecticut.

To Accomplish our mission we offer:

• Training to families in mental health issues, legislative process and advocacy, legal rights pertaining to mental health and special education.
• Training to professional caregivers.
• Training and education on mental illnesses.
• Supporting and promoting family involvement in community collaborative.
• Linking families with services needed.
• Supporting families at meetings regarding their child's care and education. 
• Establishing support and training parents in advocacy for themselves and their children. 
• Resource manual for mental health services offered in Connecticut.
• Information on State and federal legislative issues.
